Beauty and Fashion Fav’s

Hello Blog Lovers! Happy Sunday!

I hope everyone has been having a fabulous weekend.  I definitely enjoyed my Saturday, I had work until 2:30, but then Fritz and I went to Target where I nabbed this baby for 70% off!

Tracy Reese shirt for Target

I had been pining over it, but $79.99 is not a price that comes to mind when I’m shopping at target and go to look at a price tag.  However,  thanks to many of you in the twitterverse informing everyone about the neiman marcus line now being 70%, I was able to purchase this gorgeous shirt for only $24.98.  Much more reasonable and a price I’m comfortable spending while shopping at Target.  I think the shirt is so beautiful and unique.  I can’t wait to wear it.

I wanted to share a few other items I’ve gotten lately that I love and am obsessed with.

I got this watch for Christmas from the hubby and it is lovely.  I love the rose gold look, I feel like it’s so feminine and pretty. It makes me smile everytime I look down at my wrist and see it.

I really enjoy doing my eyemakeup and urban decay has the best eyeshadows. I got the original Naked palette for Valentine’s day last year, so I decided the Naked 2 palette would be great to have since I was beginning to use up a lot of Naked 1.  The colors are so pretty and the quality is great. It will last you a really long time so I feel like the price justifies itself.

I got a Sephora giftcard for Christmas as well and I really wanted this Hello Kitty mirror.  I noticed it a few weeks back, but didn’t end up purchasing it.  When I went to Sephora to use my gift card I ended up finding it on discount for only $17, marked down from $36. Score! I curl my hair a lot and usually use a compact mirror to check and make sure I curled the back of my head properly. I strained to be able to tell, but now with this hand mirror I can see much better. Plus it’s an adorable Hello Kitty design. A win win in my book.

I really enjoy makeup and fashion so I will continue to show my favorite items I use the most each week. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Friday Favorites

Hello Blog Lovers!!

Happy Friday to you!

I hope everyone has had a fabulous first week of 2013. I know mine has been great.  It would have been better if the weather wasn’t so darn gloomy and cold though.  I moved to Texas to be warm, hmph.  In the seven years I’ve lived here I can’t remember it being this cold and gloomy for this many days in a row.

Well no reason to sulk.  Life is still wonderful.   Here is a rundown of some of the things I’ve been loving this week.

My red Starbucks cup I purchased over the holidays is my favorite to drink coffee from.  It is short and wide and that’s the way I like my mugs.

Sadly the Pumpkin sauce at Starbucks is discontinued until this fall. I enjoyed my last pumpkin misto over a week ago and this is my alternative.  Its definitely good, not Starbucks good, but tasty. I plan to purchase Torani pumpkin sauce online this week as I’ve read reviews online saying it’s very similar to the sauce Starbucks uses.

This has been my favorite salad dressing over the last few weeks.  I can’t get enough.  I seem to always be drawn to the dressing from this brand, maple grove. They have the best salad dressing I’ve ever tasted and I highly recommend it.

The cold weather lately means lots of cocoa.  I like this kind because it’s only 20 calories and that means I can add lots of marshmallows and I don’t feel as guilty, haha. It honestly doesn’t taste bad either.

Anxiously Awaiting…..

Hello Blog Lovers!

It is cold and gloomy in normally sunny Texas. Yes I said Texas. Since I haven’t blogged in such a long time, some of you may remember me mentioning moving to Arizona.  Well that DID happen, but it’s a long story for another time. Ultimately we decided to move back to good old Corpus Christi, Texas and we couldn’t be happier. I got my old job back, I’m going to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi again, and the thing I’m most excited for, we are having our first home built!

I can’t tell you how excited I am for the house to be finished! It already seems like it’s been a long process, but they’ve barely only begun building. I plan to keep you all updated with the progress here on the blog, but for today I’ll tell you what I do know about our future home.

It’s going to be a 3 bedroom, 2 bath with an extra front room that I’ve been calling the library.  I plan to shelve all of my books in there as well as set up my desk and computer. So a library/office if you will.

The home is going to be a little over 1, 600 square feet, which is the perfect amount of space for us and our three dogs.

All of the main interior aspects of the house have already been chosen, the cabinets, counter tops, wall color, tile, carpet, etc.

This is the stone they will be using

Granite Countertops

We had to pay extra, but I wanted an extra special door which I’m so excited about.

Gorgeous, right? It’s going to be stained a darker color then that, but you get the idea.

The thing I’m a bit skeptical about is the color we chose (or should I say Fritz) wanted for the outside of the house. The main color is going to be an avocado green and the accent color dark brown. He suckered me into this by saying it would make our house stand out compared to every other house on the street, that are tan. That sold me. Well that and I saw an avocado house and it looked pretty nice, haha.

Green house that I liked

Overall, I am just beyond excited to be having this home built. It’s looking as though it will be completed in May, so I’ll be giving lots more updates over the next few months.

The other thing I’m most excited about is our special bathroom sinks I ordered for us. I’ll show you those in another post though;)

As of now this is the progress that has been completed on our house.

So as you can see, we have a ways to go!  Can’t wait to share more updates with you all in the future!

Anyone have anything special happening in the near future they are looking forward to?

My Resolutions: For a Healthy and Happier ME

Hello Blog Lover’s!
This post is going to be personal and talk about some issues I’ve dealt with for over two years now. I am at a much better place in my life and this is my new year’s resolution to myself. This post will serve as something for me to look back on if I’m ever faced with bad thoughts or wanting to revert back to my old ways in the future.

I have talked about my struggles before with food, but since my last posting I am happy to report that Ive grown so much. I now see food as something that can be enjoyed and not feared as I used to fear it so much. I can finally go places I wouldn’t dare have gone and eat meals with my husband without limiting or restricting myself. I’ve allowed myself to let loose, without the burden and anxiety that would ultimately follow once my meal was done. I can’t stress enough how much of a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and how wonderful it feels to not fear food as I used to.

I must say that I am not completely without fear. I still have my days and moments when I just don’t have the courage to eat something beyond my comfort zone, but the days of this fear are few and far between and I’m noticing myself taking more chances and not hating myself if the number on the scale has risen.

And boy has it risen, but for the better. I hate to admit it, but I was terribly sick both physically and mentally.
I was starving myself and looking emanciated at my worst. Its sad to think I once thought I looked good.
Its unfortunate that we put these pressures on ourselves to look a certain way and it sometimes changes you without even realizing it.

It just clicked in my head one day. This is not right. I shouldn’t define myself by a number on a scale or how little I can eat. It doesn’t prove you have more will power then others. I was only hurting myself.

My main fear is that I’ve possibly caused
a lot of internal damage to my body that I’m not aware of. My menstrual cycle still hasn’t returned and although I definitely don’t miss it, it seems unnatural to not have it.

I still need to gain a few more pounds and I plan to, but on my terms. I have been pressured by the ones I love for over a year to gain weight, but it was my own decision to make a change for myself. I needed to wrap my head around the fact that what I was doing was wtong for my body. No one else was able to convince me. I looked in the mirror everyday and judged myself. I can’t explain how or why, but everything in my head changed one day. Seeing a higher number on the scale wasn’t so bad.

Looking back at old pictures of myself recently I now notice how unhealthy I looked. I can see a difference now and I look so much better.

Too Thin:(

Looking better

I’m so grateful to my mind for allowing the awful thoughts to pretty much leave. I’m confident that they will be totally gone in the future and I will find a healthy balance that works for ME.
Any struggles with food?

Books Ive Read 2012

I wanted to start the new year off by posting a list of all the books I read in 2012. I had a goal to read a book a week, unfortunately that didn’t happen. Im nit going to attempt to make a goal like that this year because I’ll be to busy with school to achieve it.

29 books! Go me!
There were also a few books that I read quite a bit of and then got bored and didn’t finish them. I read over a 100 pages in these books, but they just ultimately didn’t hold my interest.

Uglies: Scott Westerfeld
Miss Peregrine’s school for Peculiar Children: Ransom Riggs
Dark Places: Gillian Flynn
Stunning: Sara Shepard (I own this book, but the pretty little liars series is getting stale)

My favorite book I read this past year would have to be, (its hard to really choose one), but I loved I’ve got your number by Sophie Kinsella. She is my second favorite author next to Nicholas Sparks and can basically do no wrong in my eyes.

Least favorite book was Seriously..I’m Kidding by Ellen Degeneres. I love Ellen, but she seriously was kidding, that book was a complete joke! I would have been mad if I paid money for it, luckily I only borrowed it from my local library.

I’m currently reading Bed Rest by Sarah Bilston and its super cute. My sister bought it for me for Christmas and I’m really enjoying it. She also bought me The Help which I plan to read next.

Heres to a wonderful 2013 of reading!!
What was your favorite and least favorite book you read in 2012.
-Any recommendations for me to read?

2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 10,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 17 years to get that many views.
